Former Military administrator of Lagos state, and a stalwart of All progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State, Gen Buba Marwa (Rtd) escaped being lynched during the Thursday presidential campaign rally in Yola.
Former secretary of the APC in the state, Saidu Naira, revealed that Marwa escaped the beating of his life when he was whisked out of the venue of the event by security operatives of the Villa (Presidency).
According to Naira, the former Ambassador of Nigeria to South Africa during the regime of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, attracted the wraths of Adamawa irritated youths when he refused to recognize and endorse Governor Muhammadu Umar Jibrilla Bindo when he Mounted the campaign podium to speak.
Naira exposed that Buba Marwa forced the MC to break the protocol of the program, on grounds that he was sent by Hajiya Aisha Buhari to deliver a message for the people of Adamawa state.
He Said the offence of Marwa was his inability to say “Adamawa Sai Bindo” during the campaign, and this was believed to be due to their intention to in-force Dr. Halilu Modi, a younger brother to the first Lady as APCs Gubernatorial Candidate for the state which eventually failed.
“Marwa is one of the key man playing a major role to stop Bindow from becoming a Governor, pushing the state and the party into a serious political crisis, on given the opportunity to talk, he should have use the Chance to call for unity of purpose for the Party to win all coming elections in the state.”
The youths who were ranting “Karya ne! Karya ne!! Bama Sonka! Kai muna fiki ne” meaning they don’t like Marwa was attributed to be a hatred Bindow.
You could recall that APC primaries in Adamawa state was one of the frustrated one having been marred with a lot of interest coming from all corners, using the direct or indirect Party’s new policy for primaries to frustrate so many politicians.
Buba Marwa along side Former SGF, Babachir David Lawal, Engr Marcus Gunduri,Mohammed Halilu (Modi) have pitched a political tent against the sitting Governor, Sen Muhammadu Umar Jibrilla Bindo and seems to have vowed never to allow him become the next Governor.
It’s possible the fight of interest is still playing out as it was seen during the campaign rally of the national party working for President Muhammadu Buhari when the train visited Yola last Thursday 7th February, 2019.
